IDAHO STATE JOURNAL
Thank You
I came to Pocatello on Friday to attend the funeral for
Homer S. Satterfield. A wonderful service was held at the
church and then we went to Mountain View Cemetery for the
burial.
I was impressed with the remarkable military graveside rites
by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. There was a sense of
pride on their part since they were all in full uniform. All
could have passed strict military inspection, they looked so
sharp. As a former Pocatellan, I was very proud of what they
did.
I didn’t count, but I believe there were 15 or more
involved. They handled the service and the American flag
with a lot of dignity and class. They had both old and young
military veterans involved. This involvement will keep these
traditions from disappearing in the future. Every branch of
the services was represented, which was also very unique.
I was also pleased that these individuals would share of
their time to be there and give back to one of their own who
had served his country.
My thanks to them, both for myself and for the family.
